New Way Bar / Saturday December 15th 2012 BeerMas with The Candy Band and Domino Effect
We KNEW this BeerMas was going to be extra special. There was so much pre show intruique! Some might not be aware but during the winter, the Candy Band and Free Beer's practice facilities are right next door to each other near downtown Royal Oak. Both bands had plotted to do something really special for BeerMas this year, but ... it was a SURPRISE! Band members were seen leaning against the basement window of the others house to take a listen.
Free Beer knew the Candy Band was not going to do their normal set. Rumours were that they were going to do FREE BEER's set, dressed as Free Beer.
Saturday December 15th finally came and Domino Effect hit the stage early. They obviously knew it was a big night because they brought their best stuff and played their best show yet.
The Candy Band came in the New Way dressed completly in LEATHER and wearing Ramones T-Shirts. They hopped on stage, Daniella wearing dark aviator glasses, and with a "ONE TWO THREE FOUR" kicked into a 15 song set of THE RAMONES. (Kurt's Favorite Band). What a great Beermas present!
Then it was our turn. Although we felt our special songs paled in comparison to the entire Ramones set by "The Ramonas" (Candy Band leather clad alter ego band). We started the show with our closer (Love Me Two Times) then busted out Two Candy Band songs since they didn't play any. Aided by Laura Colevecchia on vocals we played "Monster" and "I'm A Monkey" with the Candy Band dancing right in front of us. Other new songs included "The End Of The World As We Know It" and "Heavy Santa" a Christmas version of Seger's Heavy Music.
Great Night. Thanks to all for making it a Merry BeerMas.
