Farmington Founders Festival
Wow. Never saw this one coming!! Free Beer got booked for the Thursday night at the wonderful Farmington Founders Festival. We were SUPPOSED to play from 7PM to 11PM at the Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion right there in Downtown Farmington. At 6PM we watched Universal Expressions, the reggae band finish up their set. We danced. There had been reports a big storm coming, so we tentatively set up our stuff. The radar looked bad, the clouds threatened. Then POW. A 70 MPH wind gust rips through the festival, knocking over the speaker stack onto Scott and his keyboards, crushing his hand and slicing it up pretty good. There was a bunch of damage to the tent city with the vendors and the auto display. We thought we were done for the night, but then the weather passed, Tom cleaned up the blood and people started showing up, so we we hit the stage about 90 minutes late. We met former Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund who graciously pulled the winner of the 50 50 raffle. Scott made it through the night with a big bandage on his finger.
