Edelfest
This was going to be a "very special Edelfest" anyway, since the band is calling it quits at the end of the year. It's the last time many of the Edelman's are going to see us. We've been travelling down to Cleveland for the past 10 years to play for them, this time we both made a road trip up to Teresa Landino's Mai Tiki Resort in Oscoda MI. Each band member and each set of Edelman's had their own cabin or room on the beach. There was a campfire singalong on Friday night, we swam, tanned, play beach games all day Saturday and Free Beer played in a tent on the beach just feet from Lake Huron after a nice catered meal.
But that's not what made it special!
Free Beer guitarist Jim Edelman had a commissioned a 10 foot tall Easter Island Head made out of a Volkswagen by a Michigan Artist he found doing Under The Radar Michigan and presented it to Teresa and the Mai Tiki ... then they went INSIDE of the statue and Jim proposed to Teresa ... she said yes.
It was a great way to end the run with the Edelman's and watch as Jim starts a new portion of his life as the Free Beer portion is ending!
